West Beach and The Old Neptune

Whitstable’s West Beach is a beautiful stretch of shingle beach divided up by wooden groynes. It runs from just south of the town’s harbour to neighbouring Seasalter. The stretch is around a mile long and is dog-friendly all year round. You will also find the charming Old Neptune pub, which is located directly on the seafront making it an idyllic spot to spend an hour or two on a sunny afternoon with your four-legged friend. They have a great selection of local ales, as well as standard pub grub and host live music events regularly.

Tea & Times

A personal favourite of ours, Tea & Times is a locally and family-run café in the heart of Whitstable. Famous for their freshly made, delicious chunky sandwiches and homemade cakes, it’s the perfect place to stop to pick up some picnic essentials on the way to the beach.

Harbour Street

We love Harbour Street for its pretty little independent shopfronts, restaurants and boutiques, including Flory & Black, Ruskin Clothing, Honey Kanes and Frank. This character-filled street has barely changed for over a hundred years, which helps add to its charm. Some places will let you in with your dog, others won’t, so bear that in mind when wandering around.

The Lobster Shack

The Lobster Shack is a beach bar serving a selection of hot and cold seafood with daily specials, amazing local beers and local wine. With excellent beach views and lots of outdoor seating, The Lobster Shack is the perfect summer destination to finish of your dog-friendly day trip to Whitstable before heading home.
